Codependence

Codependence (co-dependence) is a pattern of detrimental behavioral interactions within a dysfunctional relationship which is regarded as an emotional disorder. In the relationship, the codependent person may be controlled or manipulated by another or, it may simply be the codependent person working hard to please or 'live through' another.

Someone who is co-dependent may have a tendency to place the needs and wants of others first; over and above their own. A co- dependent person may worry excessively about how others respond to their feelings. Undue fear of being hurt or rejected by others and self-esteem that is dependent on the approval of others and a tendency to ignore their own values while attempting to adhere to the values of others are other common symptoms of a codependent person. Contact us today to help uncover the source of your codependence so you can live a life of your own.

Women’s Issues Therapy

In today’s world, there are various areas of emotional difficulty that pertain primarily to women, thus, the modern woman finds themselves dealing with a lot more than ever before. Although there are a number of issues that will cause people turn to counseling, such as grief, parenting, relationship issues, life stresses, depression and anxiety, women often have specific needs that can benefit from counseling.

Although great strides have been made to improve the standing of women in society, we still sometimes find ourselves in unique circumstances. Women often are the primary caretakers of younger and older generations. The extra stress caused by this can cause added burdens on our already overloaded life. With the increased workloads, financial stress, and other life stresses and pressures can make life seem overwhelming.

Grief and Loss

Losing someone you love is very painful. A significant loss may cause you to experience all sorts of difficult and surprising emotions such as shock, anger and guilt. It may feel like the sadness will never let up. Although feelings such as these can seem frightening and overwhelming, they are very normal reactions to such a loss.

Even people with a supportive and caring social network can feel alone and overwhelmed by both emotional and practical matters. Family members can be a major source of comfort and assistance, but sometimes they too may be too preoccupied with their own grief to be able to reach out. There is no right or wrong way to grieve; however, there are healthy ways to cope with the pain. Let Back on Track Psychotherapy assist you in getting through this emotional time.
